Research Assistant and Lab Manager in Neuroscience biochemistry lab

Neurodegenerative Research in the Biochemistry Department

Traveling STEM class program, bringing live animals and related science experiments into classrooms. Experiments are designed to demonstrate the physics and chemistry involved in animal phenomenons to educate the public and youth and encourage understanding and excitement for nature and its organisms. Native and exotic animals are used to educate larger groups of students about local flora and fauna. Instrumental in developing and eliciting a compassion for wildlife in youth groups, as well as encouraging appreciation and respect for the environment.

Program is designed to allow students with unique needs due to learning disabilities and/or difficulties to have extra assistance with learning the material in their classrooms. Reviewed lecture material (varied based on demand) and tutored these students one on one in classes previously taken, to further the student’s understanding and provide additional explanations and insight to clear up any confusion. Tutors worked through problems, and assigned homework, found alternate explanations of material, and used any creative means possible to assist their students’ learning experience.

Performance based selection by professors to take copious amounts of notes throughout classes, and send in weekly submissions of these notes and explanations as resource material for students in the SASS program.

Achieved bachelors degree in the biological sciences, with minors in psychology and philosophy. Developed strong lab and field research skills, conducted three original research projects.

Outdoors, sports and nature based summer camp. Age groups attending camp range from six to sixteen years old.

Batting cage and turf facility for baseball, softball, and soccer that served as a recreation and practice area for teams and individuals.
