Over the last 17 years, I have worked in different architecture projects, from the very first draft to the construction works. The main projects developed have been on the healthcare field, designing new hospitals and renovations of existent hospitals, elderly residences and other healthcare facilities. Most of the projects have had the challenge to be developed while maintaining the medical activity of the center. The main projects developed the last years have been:- Extension and renovation of the Hospital Sant Joan de Deú of Manresa, Spain.- Extension and renovation of the Hospital de Sabadell “Parc Taulí”, Spain- New Building containing Surgical area and ICU’s at the Hospital de la Vall d’Hebron of Barcelona, Spain- Project of a new Building for the extension of the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, Spain- Renovation of different areas at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, Spain. Including new Surgical area and new ICU’s.- Master Plans integrating the Functional Planning.- Eldery Residence in Barcelona, Spain.- Psychogeriatric Residence in Barcelona, Spain. We are now working on several new projects, as:- Extension of the Clínica Angloamericana in Lima, Perú.- New Hepatic ICU at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona- New Hospital de Huaycán in Lima, Perú.- New Ophthalmology Surgery Area at the Hospital Clínic de BarcelonaSince 2015, we develop all projects in a BIM framework, using Revit as the main tool. We understand BIM as a process, applying to all aspects of the construction of a building: design, estimating, supply chain, build process, productivity requirements to meet targets, and on the post-handover through the Facilities Management.BIM is much more than just a detailed 3D model of a building. The accuracy of the model allow contractors to access the design layout before the build takes place and make the suitable changes. The construction team is brought in to the designing process, so there are fewer errors and far less rework to be done.
