I started working on postpartum and newborn nursery unit. I was a preceptor to new staff for their unit orientation I cross trained staff as we transitioned to mother-baby care. I was committee chair of our unit research shared governance committee. I am familiar with baby friendly hospital iniative. I worked as weekend staff for 13 years. I was a unit charge nurse for 14 years. I am familiar with Cerner Powerchart, Optilink Staffing, Pixis for medication dispensing. I am a current BLS and NRP provider. I can coordinate staffing assignments based on patient acuity. I start IV access and draw labs on adults and newborns. Have expertise in assisting with breastfeeding latch and positioning. Have expertise bottle-feeding newborns that are poor feeders. Have experience lavaging newborns. Have assisted physicians with newborn male circumcisions, newborn lumbar punctures, newborn extra digit ligation, and newborn frenulectomy. I have assisted with positioning newborns for X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, bladder scans, cardiac ultrasound, EKG. I can use IV fluid pump, newborn syringe pump, PCA pump, PCE pump. I can use Medela, Medela symphony, and Amdeda breast pumps. I can use phototherapy over crib lights, bili- bed phototherapy lights, bili blanket phototherapy light, radiant warmer, newborn and adult scale. I have expertise in hand expression of breast milk. I know how to cup feed, spoon feed newborns. I know how to use tube at breast as supplemental feeding. I know how to do skin-to-skin with mom and newborn for thermoregulation. Knowledgeable in postpartum and newborn head to toe assessment. Knowledgable in adult pain scale, NIPS, NAS Scoring. I can administrer adult and newborn medications PO, IV, IM, PR, topically, and in eyes. Manage care of patients after vaginal and cesarean birth, postpartum hemorrhage, postpartum diabetes, postpartum hypertention.
