Professional cyclist, walking quadriplegic, and pilot. I am an elite athlete living and training in Portland, Maine while also pursuing flight training. Currently a private pilot and working toward my instrument rating starting in the fall post Paris 2024. Alongside racing in the Paralympic field over these next few years leading up to LA 2028, I also will compete in able-bodied road and gravel races. I am looking forward to increasing exposure for athletes with physical impairments, while also demonstrating that we are capable and formidable competitors in both Para and able-bodied fields. Graduated magna cum laude from the University of Puget Sound in 2017, double majoring in International Political Economy and Environmental Policy & Decision Making. After studying, I sought an atypical professional path, working as a travel guide, leading hiking and cycling tours around the U.S. and Europe. It was through this work that I became connected with US Paralympics in May of 2018, and soon re-discovered my athletic prowess after attending a cycling Talent Identification camp. Since then, I have dedicated my life toward cycling and have become a vital asset for Team USA. After five seasons in the sport, I have won a Paralympic bronze medal, three World titles, more than 20 World Championships, PanAm Games, and World Cup medals, two World Cup Overall titles, and competed at two Paralympic Games in Tokyo and Paris. Moving forward, I hope to consistently contribute toward the medal count for Team USA and celebrate the Paralympic movement by being a positive role model and ambassador for the sport.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/clara.brownie/Strava: https://www.strava.com/pros/16199194
