As part of the small, dedicated staff of an impactful educational nonprofit organization, I develop Ignited's grant writing strategy. My role includes researching funder prospects, creating and managing a grants calendar, writing and editing persuasive pitches and proposals, and maintaining relationships with funders through reports on current grants.Ignited provides transformative change to education by connecting teachers with companies for summer fellowships. I manage relationships with the company mentors who host Ignited teachers by facilitating clear communication and providing support throughout the entire process of the program.

Collaborating with a professor from my master's program, I advised high-level executives in the foundation on fundraising and communication strategies during upheaval due to pandemic. I wrote and edited grant proposals, letters to major donors, case statements to county and Marine Corps, and Go Fund Me narratives.

As a writing tutor at a large university, I worked with over 150 undergraduate and graduate students of all majors per semester. I held thirty-minute sessions with each student, providing support during all stages of the writing process. I have extensive experience with and especially enjoy working with ELL students.

As an editorial assistant in the Revisions Department, I supported Project Editors in preparing materials to move textbook revisions into production. This included formatting Word manuscripts and reviewing image and reading logs for accuracy. To assist the Sales Department in determining a price for the new edition, I also researched and compiled information on competing textbook titles, including a comparison of contents, special features, and general pricing information.

As a summer intern for The American Scholar magazine published by Phi Beta Kappa, I fact-checked articles in their final stages of revision and participated in the final proof reading meeting before the issue was sent to print. I also assisted with the magazine's social media presence by drafting tweets and researching and formatting images. At the end of my internship, I pitched an idea for a short article, conducted the interview, and wrote the article for the Autumn 2018 issue.

One of my main responsibilities as a communications intern was to draft monthly newsletters on behalf of the national office to facilitate communication with chapters and alumni associations. Using Excel, I tracked our communication efforts and social media post schedule. I also reviewed initiation scripts and videos of induction ceremonies at various universities to advise chapters on best practices. The culmination of my internship was a project of my choosing; I designed a triennial conference session to discuss effects of perceived elitism in Phi Beta Kappa, and I presented the session to the society's CEO and COO.

As a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, I served as an ambassador of U.S. culture as a resident in a small Czech town, where I was the only American resident. Working at a specialized secondary school for agriculture students, I collaborated with six Czech teachers on a weekly basis. I taught English grammar and U.S. culture via lectures, small groups, and one-on-one sessions, in addition to leading conversation clubs for students and teachers to practice English outside of the classroom.

As a temporary employee at an expanding law firm, I edited attorneys' self-written biographies to achieve a uniform and professional look for the new website.

During my first year of undergraduate studies, I took a class on writing pedagogy to prepare me to become a writing tutor. I worked for three years on campus supporting undergraduate and graduate students throughout all stages of the writing process, and I gained experience working with ELL students.

I assisted the Director of Public Affairs with the Free to Learn program, which provides free admission for low-income families and nonprofit organizations. I developed content for, organized, and led a webinar for 20 leaders of local nonprofit organizations to assist them in planning meaningful experiences for their organizations' free visits to the Aquarium. I also edited the Free to Learn planning guide, communications pieces, and the concept for the web page.
