As an HR manager for a game developer, I developed people and process management skills that complemented my Computer Science degree. I organized and conducted meetings, interviews, and collected feedback to improve communication between technical and creative teams, as well as help solve personal and professional problems. I initiated and planned internal workshops to develop soft skills and increase collaboration between teams. I developed a hiring method called a “test drive,” in which candidates spend a week on the team for a hands-on assessment of their technical and interpersonal skills. Unlike job shadowing, where candidates simply observe the work of others, a “test drive” puts candidates in the field, allowing them to have real-world experience and demonstrate their capabilities in real time. It also differs from a traditional probationary period, which usually lasts 30 to 90 days on a temporary contract; a “test drive” is shortened to one week, allowing for a quick assessment of the candidate’s fit with the team, without the commitment of a long-term contract. These experiences were instrumental in improving my leadership and teamwork skills, essential skills in both HR and Computer Science. My passion for technology, software development, and people management not only connects these areas, but also motivated me to innovate and create solutions that drive the company and the team to new heights.
