In partnership with other local media organizations, Alaska Public Media undertook an initiative to reform their coverage of election cycles by facilitating community conversations and takind individual perspectives into account. I worked for the project by conducting man-on-the-street interviews asking people what policy initiatives they would like candidates to speak on. I then inputted that data and online survey data into an Excel spreadsheet and identified topics important to the community. These would form the foundation of political reporting for this election cycle and upcoming ones.

I worked in The Maneater's data and multimedia sections, and also acted as liaison between the two for specific projects. I was able to combine my skills by specializing in animated data visualizations, which I created to advertise stories on social media. I also spearheaded a reconstruction of the data section's training for new reporters by creating a series of videos to instruct reporters on ethical usage of data in stories.

As part of the Anchorage School District's Gifted Mentorship program, I worked under the mentorship of an AKPM reporter and created my own audio and article package published on Alaska News Nightly and the AKPM website. Unfortuately, the program was cut short due to COVID-19.
