Clara is an environmental scientist, specialized in ecosystem service assessments. Her work seeks to understand the relationship between nature and people and how nature can help to address sustainability challenges and contribute to people’s well-being. Clara has experiences and is interested in working with multidisciplinary project teams on analyzing environmental problems and developing integrated solutions by using the concept of ecosystem services, natural capital and nature-based solutions. She has a strong interest in working on the science-policy interface. At PBL, the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, Clara’s work focuses on the integrated assessment and spatial modelling of present and future ecosystem services and biodiversity under different future scenarios. She is especially interested in future urban developments and how urban nature can contribute to tackle societal challenges such as climate change and human health. In her PhD research she focused on advancing model-based ecosystem services assessments for policy support.
