I split my time between A Mischief of Magpies Publishing and my publishing design practice, The Book Makers. On October the 10th 2023, the most magical and wonderful book… The Harry Potter Wizarding Almanac was published in 34 countries, I had the enormously exciting role of art directing this incredible project.I’ve worked in the book trade for over 20 years as a Creative Director, Art Director and Book Designer in a variety of international co-edition publishing houses such as Bloomsbury, Harper Collins, DK, Carlton and Quarto Publishing as well as freelancing for a variety of clients including Macmillan, Collins & Brown, The London Eye, Orbis (The Flying Eye Hospital) and Trident Press/National Media Unit of the UAE.In my previous role as creative director at Carlton Books (Welbeck Publishing), I was part of the management team, contributing to the financial success and smooth running of the company. I’m a very experienced leader of teams of various sizes developing and building talent to produce the best creative and design solutions.As a creative director and designer I've worked with and been part of the pitch teams for global brands such as HBO's Game of Thrones, London 2012, Rugby World Cup, Liverpool FC, Manchester United, Arsenal, FIFA, BBC, RHS, Liberty, Ogilvy, Queen, The Warhol Foundation, National Gallery, London Eye, Good Housekeeping, Disney, Fox, AMNH, NHM, Science Museum, Harry Potter and IWM amongst many others.I mainly work on adult and children’s non-fiction in a wide variety of subject matters including cookery, gardening, history, military history, art, DIY, STEM/STEAM, digitally enhanced books and board books plus some children’s fiction.
