Clare Floyd DeVries is an award-winning theater designer. She has designed more than 200 theater productions plus one critically praised Indie film and a TV game show. A leading scenic designer in DFW, she has also designed sets for the west coast, Prague, and Off-Broadway. (Her designs have been exhibited at "Art Beyond the Stage," at Dallas' Bath House Cultural Center and in the World Stage Design digital exhibit, Toronto. She has been interviewed for PBS' All Things Considered and a KERA Artist Profile.) In a business as collaborative and deadline-oriented as show business, Clare's record of repeat clients speaks for itself.Sharing her love of the arts is an on-going interest - whether writing articles in trade journals or blogging, mentoring, or showing MFA theater design students how to sketch. Clare has written and published a book on theater set design: Alice Through the Proscenium: more scenic set design She has retired as sole proprietor of the architectural firm, DeVries Architecture Design, specializing in hospitality and performance projects. Her architecture work included an American Airlines Admirals Club, country clubs, and restaurants. And projects like Coppell Fire Station #2. (Now, how appropriate! that fire station is an Arts Center.) Clare helped small theater companies evaluate existing facilities and plan new ones.
