Profile bio

About Clare Guy

In my current role as an R&D Grants Coordinator within the KPMG R&D Incentives Practice, I work with clients and our team of science and engineering professionals to draft grant applications across multiple technical sectors for national grants (primarily focused on RD&I and Environmental grants). My role involves providing professional support to a suite of clients from pre-award to post-award project management and drawdown assistance. Previous role in SEAI in the Research and Technology Department as a Research, Development and Demonstration Programme Executive. As part of this role, I supported the SEAI National Energy Research Development and Demonstration Funding Programme Calls. This included coordinating project evaluation and oversight of energy research projects during implementation. I worked to enhance communication and dissemination activities in relation to SEAI funded energy research projects, through the coordination of the National Energy Research and Policy Conference and Connecting Energy Research and Policy Seminar Series. Previously worked as a Programme Executive in the Market Surveillance Unit at SEAI. I worked in connection with relevant government departments and the European Commission to ensure EU regulations are adhered to. I assisted in the planning, development and implementation of compliance promotion, monitoring and verification activities for the Ecodesign Directive and Energy Labelling Framework. I am particularly interested in the circular economy and consumer awareness of sustainability initiatives as a result of this role. Previously worked as a Grassland Research Officer at Teagasc Grange. The focus of my research was investigating how grazing efficiency in beef systems can be improved through grass physiology and sward dynamics. I undertook PhD research, at Teagasc Moorepark and Queen’s University Belfast, examining the interaction between perennial ryegrass and white clover in intensive dairy production systems. My undergraduate education was at Trinity College Dublin where I obtained a 1.1 in Botany (Natural Sciences). My particular focus for my undergraduate research was on the pollination ecology of field beans and wild hedgerow plants.I am fascinated by all things science, research, education, energy, sustainability, agriculture and ecology (including grazing systems, plant-animal interactions, farmland ecology, entomology, circular economy, welfare... the list goes on!).I am looking to grow my networks and engage with anyone interested in the above areas!

Listed skills include Leadership, Writing, Presentation Skills, Agroecology, and 37 others.
