Clare Herbert Email and Phone Number
I am the manager of the Peak District Mining Museum, an independent museum, in rural Derbyshire. A background in Environment Geography and in primary education as both a teacher and manager provided many of the skills I use daily. In addition I had a fairly secure understanding of the lead mining industry in Derbyshire and have a growing knowledge of the history of the areas quarrying industries. I am now competent at keeping small business accounts, know a lot more about health and safety requirements and about collection care in museums. In 2023 I became a trustee at the National Stone Centre (NSC). I am project managing the relocation of our current museum to the NSC site followed by our expansion to a Mining & Quarrying Museum. As part of this I am working with the Institute of Quarrying and am trying to grasp the language and methods of corporate business - a far cry from the schools I worked in for 23 years. Follow this page and the Museum's page to find out more about the historic mining & quarrying industries and about the move to to the NSC. Definitely not open to work - I have more than enough going on! Current back ground image is of an ore crushing circle at Dirt Low Rake in Derbyshire.
