Strategic Risk Analyst
Current- Responsible for GMFRS base risk model and all associated identification and analysis of risks to be considered within the IRMP (Integrated Risk Management Plan). This is repeated each year and helps to inform the corporate plan. http://www.manchesterfire.gov.uk/media/3430/irmp-supporting-documentation-2016-20.pdf- Use workload modelling tools to assess the impact of any future changes to the service (i.e. removal of resources, relocation of fire station, responding to new incident types). This process is used to ensure that any changes still maintain fire cover in the best possible way. - Yearly production of Safe and Well priority lists using Mosaic geodemographic data and internal data. These lists of people assist fire crews to target the members of their communities who are most at risk and provide a Safe and Well visit. - Tactical analysis for borough and station managers usually looking at a risk specific to their area (i.e. accidental dwelling fires, RTCs) leading to prevention tactics and communication campaigns. - Data analysis for North West Fire Control including using AVLS data to improve road speeds, creation of standby zones and deployment points etc. Also provide BI reporting support. I use a range of tools for my analysis including Excel, Access, Cadcorp GIS, QGIS, R, Python, CartoDB, Corvu, SAP Business Objects, SQL. I am also trained as a Lean Six Sigma yellow belt so can utilise this methodology for specific projects. I also represent the fire service at various conferences. In the past year I have spoken at Cadcorp Workload Modelling workshop (http://www.cadcorp.com/files/uploads/news-files/fire_times_april_may_2016.pdf), Cadcorp Housing conference as a guest speaker and Salford Haelo.
