I am a qualified senior commercial and contracts solicitor with over 20 years legal experience and a strong expertise in international and national procurement of all types of goods and services and training the business. I draft and negotiate high value global procurement contracts and framework agreements for a wide and diverse range of goods and services. In 2020 alone I negotiated contracts with a combined values of > 1.2 US Bn$ ( E.g. logistics, oil products, freight forwarding and marketing). I am commercially and business driven; experienced at weighing up risk and reward. As a member of the Downstream CP Leadership at Shell I developed strong business relationships helping me to maintain a commercial focus whilst ensuring legal and ethical considerations are firmly on the agenda. I help empower the business to independently create and negotiate contracts within a compliant and robust legal framework without the need for legal support. To this end my work has involved finding practical ways to achieve these goals such as creating model contracts, writing and delivering training, drafting guidance and contributing to dedicated contracting tools. My role also involved providing day to day legal support and advice to different parts of the business. As an in-house lawyer I am used to responding to a broad and diverse range of situations and queries e.g. potential disputes, force majeure, sustainability, worker welfare, ABC, Data privacy. Being in-house I have also always been mindful of the bigger picture and cognisant of both the business and the legal issues as well as the risk and reward.I’m passionate about educating and create and deliver dynamic training and resources to enable the business to negotiate strong, compliant commercial contracts. I mentor colleagues in different stages of their careers. I have practiced Mindfulness meditation for over 10 years and deliver learning sessions and guided meditations to legal and business colleagues.After 24 years at Shell I have made the decision to branch out and look at new opportunities in both the legal and educational world. I have successfully interviewed and qualified to undertake freelance lecturing for BPP and will also be exploring other opportunities to utilise my extensive experience.
