Since I began working at Marco's IGA I have been able to experience several different occupations involved in the runnings of a supermarket. I've been entrusted to make decisions relating to several aspects of the store, and have adapted my abilities to diverse situations.Jobs completed include: - Respond to and satisfy customer requests- Handle financial transactions- Maintain stock control using First in First Out System (FIFO) - Participate in the induction and training of new staff- Maintain the store’s appearance and standards- Assist in the gourmet delicatessesn / kitchen with cleaning, food preparation and display- Participate in annual stock take

In March 2017 I spent a day volunteering at Peter Alexander's head office in Richmond, assisting with the preparation of their stock for a sample sale. I spent the day categorising products into their respective categories and ensuring they were fit for sale as sample pieces.

In February 2017 I completed work experience at the Pacific Brands head office in Kew. Throughout the day I assisted in various areas including marketing and design, undertaking tasks such as preparing and collecting sample pieces for photo shoots, sorting products into their relevant departments (E.g. children/baby, womens and mens), correcting design colours to reflect the relevant Pantone number and developing a mood board for future kids wear trends. I also had the opportunity to sit in on a meeting which included every member of staff, as well as the company CEO, which went acknowledged company growth rates and changes. I also had the opportunity to attend a presentation on future trends, conducted by innovation research and trends firm, Stylus.

As part of the completion of my Associate Degree in Fashion and Textiles Merchandising at RMIT, I have been involved in a year-long project, in partnership with Target Australia. Throughout the year I held the role of team leader of a team of 6, in the development of a women's plus size clothing range for Target (S/S 2017), addressing a brief delivered at the beginning of the year by Target. I constantly faced challenged which had to be overcome cohesively as a team and learned to improve my skills in delegating, time management and communication.The project included all the necessary marketing activities and campaigns to be used to promote the clothing range. Our team also held a strong focus on creating a range which promoted Target's existing ethical sourcing practices. At the launch night of The Retail Initiative, our team was announced by Target as the winners, out of the Target womenswear teams.

In March I began interning at Wittner’s head offcie, assisting in their marketing department, over the course of ten weeks. Some of the jobs I completed include:- Matching appropriate shoes to style/photoshoot briefs - Writing posts/interview questions for the Wittner blog - Developing concepts for new shoe styles/packaging - Developing mood boards for their pinterest- Taking photos for the Wittner website Assiting in PR- Organising / packing shoe

In January of 2016, I was one of two RMIT students selected to travel to Malaysia, working with a Fair Trade organisation involved in the production and retailing of traditional textiles. Insights gained / jobs completed:- Gain understanding in the nature of a social enterprise- Gain insight into a startup/small business in Asia- Visited The Batik Boutique’s sewing centre- Involved in production, packaging, and distribution of products - Visited The Batik Boutique’s factory in the East Coast of Malaysia- Projected accessory styles for future season, created design boards including products, color schemes, and prints
