In my role as Locality Inclusion Lead (LIL) I work within The NEPAIP team (North East Leeds Primary Area Inclusion Partnership) who provide an inclusion base for primary children with SEMH needs and also offer a range of interventions, support and advice for the 45 primary schools in the North East of Leeds on an outreach basis to help them develop the skills for positive inclusion and to succeed in school.As Locality Inclusion Leader I support this work by way of targeted outreach interventions throughout the area. Our aim is to ensure that services to children, young people and families at greatest risk of poor outcomes are delivered through coordinated packages of support.I provide school staff (both at individual and/or group level) with support and advice on specific strategies for those pupils who have significant social, emotional and mental health needs.Support may include participating or facilitating in the development of 1:1 relationships with children and young people who require particular support, with the aim of addressing points defined in action plans and engaging them with learning and opportunities.I promote the embedding of restorative practice approaches across the locality to resolve challenging situations, build effective interventions based on a ‘team around the family’ approach and ensure following assessment, that a package of support isdeveloped.
