I have been appointed as an Australian libraries representative to the Public Lending Right Committee for four years.The Committee is responsible for the administration of the Public Lending Right Scheme and advises the Minister for the Arts on the operation of the Scheme.The Scheme ensures Australian book publishers and creators are compensated for the free multiple use of their work in Australian public and educational lending libraries.

My arrival at SCU coincided with COVID-related state border closures and catastrophic floods in our region. In spite of these hardships, my team of 45 have implemented new systems and procurement processes, adapted library services to meet the needs of SCU's six week teaching model, commenced Open Textbook publishing, launched a digital literacy resource hub, boosted research skills training and capacity, and refreshed our physical and digital collections. I stepped up into the Director role a few months into the COVID pandemic. During this temporary appointment, I led 65 staff through our COVID-19 service "pivot", provided expert advice to select a new vendor for USQ's research outputs repository, signed USQ's first Read and Publish agreement to offer fee-free Open Access publishing options for researchers, and contributed to the rollout of the integrated student service model iConnect at the Springfield and Ipswich campuses.

This included rostering, managing staff, developing and coordinating targeted training activities, I worked with a team of three library technicians delivering SLQ's busy interlibrary loans and document supply service. I am proud of the work I completed in reviewing and overhauling State Library's Lending Policies and procedures.
