I am currently a Class Teacher, having taught previously in Year 5 (age 9/10) and, in my current role, Early Years Foundation Stage (age 4/5) in a 2 form entry Ofsted Outstanding school. I have been able to establish a nurturing, safe and inspiring classroom for the children I have taught, through implementation of imaginative, creative and engaging learning experiences. I have been able to incorporate technology, appropriately, in the classroom to help visually explain mathematical calculation skills and written writing skills. This fostering progress by adapting to the skills and needs of my pupils is something which deeply interests me, and makes me passionate to help the children learn the best they can. I have acted as the Religious Education subject leader at my school, ensuring teaching and planning of a newly implemented curriculum was seamless, and I am about to take questions from colleagues, to help them integrate the new curriculum into their classroom. I also enjoy being part of after school clubs, and community events, such as Christmas fairs, Easter bingo, and setting up an after school club for a cluster of local schools, to help develop STEM skills in students. The school I work at has pupils in the lowest 2% for deprivation in the country, and being able to work with parents/carers to help develop talent and build relationships and trust with guardians has been something I have extensive experience in. This has especially been useful when dealing with SEN students, which I have a lot of experience in.

I have also, at the same school, but prior, served as a Level 4 Teaching Assistant, where my role was to plan, resource and deliver quality teaching across students aged 5 to 11, including a SEND unit with pupils following personalised curriculums. My specific responsibilities were to plan and run interventions for students on subjects including phonics, reading, spelling and maths skills, plan, resource and teach lessons as a sequence to further childrens progress, and to provide verbal and written feedback to the children. I also, as part of this role, assessed the students using formative and summative methods, to help track their progress, and promoted the use of ICT and visual literacy to enhance learning, eg using video clips or iPads.

I was also a Level 2 teaching assistant at the same school, supporting the class teacher with learning activities to contribute to children’s development. In this role I was able to work with Year 2 (age 6/7), year 4 (age 8/9) and year 6 (age 10/11). I planned and ran interventions for numerous subjects for SEND children, helped children develop their reading through a multitude of techniques and prepared tailored resources to the needs of the child.

As a Learning Support Assistant, my role was to assist in the learning of pupils aged 16 and above, most of whom had Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) My role included providing appropriate support for individuals or groups of learners in/out of class as specified on their Additional Learning Support Plan and work in partnership with curriculum staff ensuring appropriate and effective support meets the learner’s needs.In addition I has a role in assisting in the initial assessment and review process of learners who have declared they have a learning difficulty or disability, including the completion of an Additional Learning Support Plan to meet their needs in order to follow the Colleges Management System to record all learner information and attend all team and college meetings.
