About Dr Clare Anyiam-Osigwe B.E.M

Dr Clare's career started as an entrepreneur at 24 years old after finishing her PGCE in teaching in Theatre Studies in 2009 after completing a film directing degree at Brunel in 2006. She then became the Founder of the world's first Allergen-friendly Vegan beauty company, Premae Skincare which she founded at the age of 26 in 2011. Dr Clare single-handedly formulated 10 ranges of skincare and 80 SKU's, winning 14 awards in 2 years by 2013. Clare led PR & Marketing strategies garnering over 50 publications - Vogue, Forbes, 3 GlossyBox and 3 Birchbox Insertions 2013-4 reaching 500k UK +Spanish customers. products featured on over 2k beauty blogs. The brand attracted celebrity fans and global customers including Dame Judi Dench, Stevie Wonder and more whilst the brand became multi-awarded for helping women with skin allergies including Eczema and Psoriasis. Dr Clare used personal story telling and her clients testimonials to highlight and remedy skin issues.At the same time as leading the brand into 3 continents (UK, Africa and USA) driving sales globally in 2014, Dr Clare chose to sponsor the British Urban Film Festival opening night premiere with her skincare products. Clare admired the energy of the festival and the platform it gives to emerging story tellers, and became the marketing director for the festival, garnering over £150k in sponsorship from brands including BT, BBC Films and Trace Urban. Clare opened Premae Skincare free-standing store at Whiteleys, Bayswater London Aug 2014-15 and then a private Premae clinic at No.1 Harley Street specialising in Vegan Facials & Skin/Diet consultations, 2015 - 18 In 2017, Dr Clare was honoured in the New Years honours list for services to Dermatology. Dr Clare was flown to Florence, Italy as a key note speaker, alongside Black Panther/lecturer Angela Davis to speak about women in business and film. Dr Clare became lead script judge at the British Urban Film Festival and began writing a script in Oct 2017. Whilst Premae was selling successfully through a Sky Shopping Channel, Clare made the decision to close the brand and focus on producing her debut feature film script 'No Shade'. Dr Clare produced the film, under a new division in the British Urban Film Festival, called BUFF Originals. Clare officially became the 6th black British female film director to secure a theatrical release in 123yrs of British cinema.Clare has won 4 awards as a filmmaker, the most recent, December 2020 at the African Movie Academy Awards. Clare was invited to join BAFTA as a full voting member, Jan 2021.

Clare is an award-winning film director and screen writer, directing HOLLYOAKS, Summer ’22 and returning Spring ’23.On 9 December 2022, the 6000th episode of long running soap drama Hollyoaks was broadcast by Channel 4. Viewers had already seen the climactic episode (directed by Clare Anyiam-Osigwe) air on sister station E4 the previous evening. Episode 5999 (which was aired by Channel 4 on 8 December 2022) was also directed by Clare who was making her directorial debut on network television.Official consolidated figures from BARB revealed that 436,000 watched Episode 5999. She has shadowed on the BBC’s EASTENDERS (August 2022) for multicam experience and on ITV’s CORONATION STREET (January 2023).Clare has served previously as the lead script juror and co-chair of BAFTA, BIFA, AMAA accredited British Urban Film Festival (BUFF). Clare’s directorial debut film NO SHADE secured an international theatrical release, making her just the 6th black British woman to secure cinematic distribution in 2018. The film has since been streamed over 16 million times on Amazon Prime. In 2018, Clare was commissioned by The Voice Newspaper to produce and direct a short documentary, WINDRUSH STORIES celebrating 70 years of the first Caribbean settlers to the U.K.In 2020, she was approached by HBO Max to write for TV. Award-winning Dermatologist Clare Anyiam-Osigwe, who was honoured by the Queen in 2017, is to pursue a new career in the movie business, cashing in on her 15 years in the skincare business to write, direct and co-star in "No Shade"- a romantic drama which tackles the issue of skin and colourism. Islington-born founder, formerly Dr Clare Eluka BEM of pioneering Premae Skincare revolutionised the skincare industry with her multi award-winning creams and foundations. The products used by the likes of​ Dame Judi Dench, Beverley Knight MBE and Karen Bryson MBE​ are hailed as the first 'freefrom' skincare products​.
