My jobscope as a URA intern under the Draft Master Plan (DMP) 2025 Public Engagement (PE) Team was multifaceted, comprising the following notable experiences:1. Public Engagement workAs part of DMP PE efforts, I participated in islandwide roving exhibitions showcasing the Recreational Master Plan (RMP), engaging directly with the public – URA's largest stakeholders. These pop-up events allowed me to introduce upcoming plans, facilitate conversations, and gather valuable feedback, reinforcing the idea that "to teach is to learn twice."2. Use of GenAI in data analysis workDespite having no prior coding experience, I had to opportunity to develop a GenAI semi-automated assistant to aid in the analysis of data collected from public feedback channels on RMP. The assistant is able to internalise Excel sheets and generate both quantitative and qualitative analysis. With much guidance from mentors and colleagues from the Design & Planning Lab (DPL), I continually refined the assistant through iterative critical thinking and collaboration with my fellow intern. This assistant was eventually presented to and shared with the Physical Planning Group (PPG) as an accessible resource.3. Electronic Direct Mail (EDM) Newsletter workI designed an internal digital newsletter template on RMP, tapping onto graphic design skills with the aid of tools like Canva and Procreate. Additionally, I leveraged GenAI to transcribe interviews with private sector professionals discussing the design of public spaces in Singapore (these interviews would then be churned into written articles for the newsletters). I learnt much from the interviewees – one a sociologist and the other an architect – about the importance of human-centric architectural design, turning physical spaces into life experiences.
