When I was young, I had a variety of life goals. First, I wanted to be a cartoonist; then I wanted to work with animals. I loved singing, so that was on the cards at one point. By the time I left high school, I wanted to be a high school teacher – Art and English. I also toyed with the idea of writing books. In a strange, roundabout way, I have achieved all these goals… to some extent.I have been involved in theatre since the age of fourteen, performing on stage and working behind the scenes. I’ve planned marketing for shows, directed, designed sets, and run the sound desk. After my children came along, I worked part-time in a vet clinic for several years. I looked after both clients and their pets. It was an amazing experience.Since 2014, I have homeschooled both my children. This came about because my son was diagnosed with a condition called 22q 11.2 distal deletion syndrome. He is also autistic. As a result, he has severe developmental delays, and sadly, mainstream schooling just did not work for him. Our journey as homeschoolers, and dealing with the challenges of my son’s diagnosis, led me to create my blog, The Bumpy Road Way. It gave me the chance to write and share our experiences, and in a funny way, it was like therapy for me.But now, I am finally pursuing my creative dream… illustration and graphic design.
