Alder Hey is the busiest children's hospital in the UK caring for over 270,000 young patients each year. Alder Hey Children's Charity raises funds to support the hospital's pioneering work and aims to improve the quality of life for our patients and through our innovations and research, the quality of life for children across the world.

In 2004 I decided to put my skills in management and marketing to use within the third sector and joined the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace as Chief Executive. The Foundation is the only U.K. organisation founded by victims of terrorism which supports others affected by political violence,conflict and acts of terror. It works nationally to support those affected by terrorism and conflict including young people, veterans and victims of terrorism. Through its work we equip people with the skills to use their traumatic experience to do something positive for their own wellbeing and to help their communities. My remit is to build the charity into a nationally and internationally recognised conflict resolution organisation. Under my leadership the Foundation has expanded its geographical reach nationally and internationally and is networked through 32 organisations in 8 countries in Europe. Through the development of the Foundation, I have positioned the organisation as advisor to the Government on the aftercare of victims of terrorism and the prevention of violent radicalisation of young people. As part of the Foundation’s work, I have spoken at numerous conferences about the role of education in community cohesion and on ‘The Role of Victims of Terrorism in Preventing Violent Radicalisation’. I currently lead the RAN Prevent working group examining the counter radicalization of young people, which is part of the E.U’s Radicalisation Awareness Network. I Chair the inter agency group Critical Incident Response Advisory Group (CIRAG), and am a member of the Hate Crime Scrutiny Panel for Manchester & Cheshire Crown Prosecution Service. I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Business and Public Media, am a Fellow of the RSA and have been working in the field of peace and conflict resolution since 2003.
