Nominee for Best Podcast Producer at the Audible UK 2019 Audio Production Awards. Why: "Aged 10, I dreamt of having my own production company called A Small Furry Bear. I presented my own radio shows on my ghetto blaster in my bedroom in Coventry with my little brother. Now, some 20+ years later, that day dream is an everyday reality..."You might be pondering what all the fuss is about podcasting and whether you should create one? Or perhaps you're an avid podcast listener with several ideas but no clue where to start?Unlike broadcasting, there are no hard and fast rules in podcasting, no niche is too niche. But how do you make your diamond in the rough shine brightly in today’s busy podcast marketplace? Cue - me, an experienced podcast producer and presenter - someone who has 10 years’ + experience in broadcasting; won awards for documentary making and transformed a casual chat in my kitchen to 8 million downloads and a fully sponsored podcast series. Yet I'll admit that when I first came to podcasting (back in 2012), I felt like I had to head back to school and learn my craft all over again.Fast forward to present day, I've gathered experience from all the different types of podcast series I've produced - and I help fast-track my clients to get started...but without making the same mistakes as I made all those years ago. What the heck I do: >I've created series which have turned from passion to profit, and podcast to TV show.>I co-present a podcast regularly featured in the top 20 health and fitness category in the UK charts.>I’m an artist in resident for Glossop Creates and the Peak District National Park exploring innovative ways of using audio to tell the stories of the Longdendale valley’s past and present.>I repurpose and soundscape bespoke storytelling series for charities and European businesses wanting to promote branded content.>I exec produce immersive audio content with The Space and BBC Sounds. >I coach, train and consult with both first-time and established podcasters.>I’m not a fan of fancy studios. I prefer to record in churches, cars, kitchens, back rooms of pubs, snowy moorlands and ice rinks! (Little extra: I used to read the news on BBC Radio 5Live, produce TV at BBC Breakfast and present workshops for the BBC Academy for 10 years before I became freelance in 2017).Contact: asfbproductions@gmail.com
