Clare Valenti is the Director of Community Engagement at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in Detroit, MI. In this role, Clare develops, administers, and evaluates initiatives and performance opportunities intended to bring DSO musicians into the community and fulfill the DSO's mission to be a community-supporting orchestra. The DSO's Community Engagement department partners with music education initiatives and community health and wellness initiatives, and provides concert experiences outside of its home at Orchestra Hall, located in the heart of Detroit's Midtown area. These partnerships bring DSO musicians to senior living homes, playrooms at children's hospitals, schools, hospital lobbies, and community gathering spaces throughout Metro Detroit. Clare joined the DSO's Community Engagement department in 2017.Clare joined the DSO in 2012, working as a Music Library Assistant and moving to the role of Popular and Special Programs Coordinator in the Artistic Operations department in 2014.Clare represents the DSO as a member of the Michigan Alliance for Cultural Accessibility (MACA), a consortium of professionals working together in order to enhance the accessibility of Southeast Michigan's cultural institutions for people with all abilities.Clare has served in other administrative roles with both the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and the National Music Festival, a summer music festival in Chestertown, MD.Clare holds a dual-concentration Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Communication Studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
