I am currently a first year trainee clinical scientist on the NHS Scientist Training Programme. I am rotating through the various medical physics departments, specifically Imaging with Non-Ionising Radiation, Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology & Radiation Safety.As part of this training course, I have also returned to University, studying part time towards a masters in Clinical Science.In my previous role, I was a data scienstist/engineer at Jumping Rivers. I focused on making data science accessible to everyone, through outreach, training and events. I was involved in R and Python training, front-end web development with HTML and CSS, and infrastructure support using various technologies (e.g. Docker, GitLab CI/CD, etc)In 2022 I graduated from Newcastle University with a PhD in applied mathematics/theoretical physics. My focus was on hot-electron quantum optics. I analytically derived and then numerically simulated quantum systems, to use as an input into experimental design, using a combination of Python and Matlab.During my PhD I discovered my love for science communications, taking part in competitions such as the Three Minute Thesis, and giving local public talks on topics outside my direct area of research such as Forgotten Women in Science, as well as giving many talks on my PhD research to various audiences.Before embarking on my PhD, I worked as a Graduate Security Operations Centre Analyst. In this role I learned a lot about the ins and outs of protective monitoring and risk analysis. I also spent some time developing the Programme Management office and assisting with Service Management.I obtained a 1st Class Honours MPhys in Astrophysics from Aberystwyth University. This is where I was introduced to programming via Fortran 90 for modelling numerical methods, IDL for astrophysics simulations and Python for exploring quantum physics with Quantum Toolbox in Python (QuTiP), which was the focus of my masters thesis.
