- Managed all programmatic and functional aspects of a 2,500 square foot core research facility housing $1,250,000 of equipment and machinery.- Managed all business, administrative, financial, marketing, and safety aspects of the SEB machine shop. - Operated the following machines on a daily basis and performed service and maintenance at scheduled intervals: HAAS VF-3 CNC Mill, HAAS TL-2 lathe, Flow IFB waterjet, Okamoto ACC 12.24DX surface grinder, Okamoto OGM 250 cylinder grinder, Clausing Colchester 15”x 50” lathe, Lagun ATV-618-ET lathe, Bridgeport Series One manual mill, Lincoln MIG/TIG/Stick welder, Lincoln plasma cutter, Acetylene welder, Stratasys Fortus 400 MC 3D printer, Dake Cold Saw, Wellsaw Model 1016, Dake Johnson V-24 Bandsaw, Darex XT300 tool/ drill sharpener, drill presses, and others. - Performed in house inspection in our metrology lab on every part using a Starrett optical comparator, HAAS WIP system, Renishaw probe, gages, or manual inspection tools. - Completed 46 projects per year on average, and kept pace with the manufacturing needs of a Carnegie R1 classified university with a “very high research activity” designation. - Developed proprietary products and engineering solutions in use by scores of campus researchers and Nikon Instruments, The Nevada Test Site, and various private industry partners. - Machined parts in Inconel 718, various steel and stainless grades, plastics, Macor ceramic, carbon fiber, red metals, uranium, and other materials. - Advised undergraduate through post-doctoral students and faculty on complex research projects, addressing design, manufacturability, performance, and related concerns.- Performed all CAD design, CAM programming, fixturing, machine configuration, machining, and finishing processes. - Consulted on projects that required machining solutions for application in a variety of disciplines including biology, chemistry, ME/EE/ aerospace engineering, medicine, RadChem, physics, and others.
