Greater San Diego Area

Hired to provide breakthrough in object recognition and performance in full color high resolution vision system capable of performing first article inspection using rules based programming. Successfully designed and coded an innovative solution that would enable advanced product inspection capability. Solution was based on applying some RF signal recovery concepts to HSI image domain. Resulting product was capable of identifying bond wires and related defects that had not be possible previously.

Worked as part of the platform builder team to provide reference designs annually for OEMs based on the Microsoft Windows® CE .NET operating system (OS). These included home networking solutions such as WiFi routers and media solutions that included set top boxes and DVRs.

Originally hired to provide business consulting services but was then asked to join company as one of the co-founders and serve as President. Worked to acquire initial funding and then lead the design and development of the business and product line. The related products and services provided brand loyalty and brand impression solutions to a range of clients including Miller Brewing Company, Dry Ice retail stores, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, The American Red Cross, E*Trade, Bootlegger (teen clothing stores in Canada), Alltel and Coca-Cola (Surge). The main product was an In-Touch Machine Kiosk (ITM’s ®), which were live, interactive kiosks with custom-written interface and backend database applications. These ITM’s ® were deployed across the U.S. and Canada in a variety of permission-based marketing programs that collected and converted data into information for clients and their customers

Business and technical consultant providing systems integration and outsourcing services to Fortune 500 companies. Focus was on providing customers with seamless computer, telephone and multimedia services. In addition, developed steps to insuring processes were aligned with the resulting solutions.Also did network and DB analysis and optimization. Multi-tier system design and support. Identify and gather business requirements and then prioritize and manage development and deployment. Develop functional and system tests, including load testing and analysis.

As president of Vision Systems Inc, provided turnkey specialized mobile radio solutions (SMR) to a global market. Developed standalone cellular radio system with real time billing to meet the demand for improved communications solutions in key areas such as financial centers in the Cayman Islands. Also was used to meet the telecommunications needs of cruise ships and municipalities in the Caribbean from Tortola to Barbados. Partnering with Cable & Wireless in the Caribbean was a major commercial success for such a young startup company. In addition to the SMR solutions, successfully provided real time billing to one of the largest cellular radio system in the world located in Mexico City.

Responsible for introducing one of the first low cost cellular radio systems in the US. System architecture included RF subsystems as well as telecommunications interfaces and related software. Designed and guided fabrication of VLSI solution to decode cellular control channel that reduced 2 – 4 X 6 circuit boards to a single chip. Bell labs was project auditor and stated it was one of the best run projects they had encountered. This $6M system development was delivered on time and under budget.

Peoria, Illinois Area

Designed and developed innovative PID system solutions for Caterpillar Tractor research facility. Included automation of major test cells for engine testing as well as failure testing of tractor structural elements. Also implemented test and calibration solutions for flow meters and clutch materials that had previously only been possible using tedious manual process. Particular proud of heat treat control system and related language I developed that enabled precise control of the heat treat and carbon hardening process by doing real time analysis of the furnace gasses and then applying a proprietary formula within the furnace control language.
