Project: Yeoman Hey Impounding Reservoir (IR) Wave Wall for United Utilities AMP6Project Overview: To design and construct a new masonry clad reinforced concrete (RC) wave wall. The RC wall was cast behind the existing wave wall and tied into the existing embankment clay core via a RC base slab and nib to form a watertight barrier up to Probable Maximum Flood Still Water Level. I was involved in the project from the early design phase right through to contract completion. During the early design phase my role was to assist the project team as design support. As part of my role I completed various design / project leader tasks such as drainage calculations, settlement calculations and design reports. Once the design was finalised I started on site during the cabin setup and remained as the only site engineer on the project for the duration of site works. My responsibilities on site included completing pre-start and topographical surveys, assisting the site manager in morning briefings and completing weekly progress reports. I also planned and co-ordinated trial hole surveys to determine ground conditions and locate services. Throughout the construction phase I was responsible for setting out on site as per construction drawings, using the Leica NA270 dumpy level and Total Station. I was also responsible for managing the Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) and completing Inspection and Test Records (ITRs) ie. pre-pour inspections, concrete placement records and records of slump tests and concrete cubes. These records provided evidence to the client that site works were completed to a high standard and in-line with all relevant specification. Once site works ended, I collated all the site information including red-line drawings and as-built surveys and worked on finalising the completion documentation to handover to the client.
