This course is designed to allow students from all backgrounds to discuss and learn about the process behind design and design thinking. I spent the summer of 2019 working with designers and developers in the Application Design and Development (ADD) section of the Division of Research and Statistics (R&S) at the Federal Reserve Board. I conducted research regarding ADD's specific research and design processes, which included an in-depth analysis of trends in their research participant tracking and various heuristic analyses of internal webpages they have designed and developed.I advocated for UX and research through division-wide focus groups. I recorded comprehensive notes of the six, one-hour long discussions, which were shared with the larger audience of R&S staff. I analyzed and shared insights through an affinity mapping technique, which will contribute to this workforce planning change initiative.In August, I led a research and redesign project to improve the comprehension and awareness of an audio-visual equipment resource group and webpage at the Board. The goal of the redesign was to better support division staff through increasing the visibility of the resource. I created a Qualtrics survey, conducted four usability tests, and received feedback in a critique session from Designers in ADD. With this feedback, I was able to implement changes to the redesigned mock-ups with a focus on stronger information architecture and visual hierarchy of the webpage itself.
