6 years of experience at Alcon in roles of increasing responsibility. I've progressed through sustaining engineering and tech transfer roles to lead a group of manufacturing engineers towards purchase, design, and validation of automated and semiautomated systems and lean processes to support medical device manufacturing. I have been responsible for organizing and staffing (recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, defining reporting structures, and training) to meet strategic objectives within the provided capital and expense budget objectives for my department. Now I lead multiple sub-groups within the Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance department to ensure correct staffing, training, resourcing, and assignment within my teams. I further globally lead correct application of resources (people and funds) to ensure site capacity, timely recapitalization, business continuity, quality, and support of new product introduction.Prior to my industry career, I spent 8 years in Biomedical research as an undergraduate and Ph.D. Student. My projects have ranged from synthesis and application of quantum dots to tissue engineering through gene therapy to testing of medical devices. My thesis work focused on regeneration of cartilage and bone through controlled release of gene delivery agents from a variety of polymers. This project was self-guided and allowed me to mentor a number of younger students while directing and pursuing my own research goals. Areas of Expertise: project development, group leadership, personnel development, departmental management, biology and chemistry lab techniques, technical writing, machining and fabrication, microscopy and analytic chemistryPrevious experience in engineering standard development and implementation, project management, and chemical and biological research.
