Professor Clark joined the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) at the University of Queensland as the Director of Production Centres including the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) and the WH Bryan Mining and Geology Research Centre in September 2015 moving into the Strategic Planning role for the Institute in 2019.Alice brings significant minerals industry experience to this role having held senior managerial positions and consulting roles to government and major resources groups involved in discovery, operations development, mergers and acquisitions. Her work on a variety of mineral deposits spans exploration, mine geology, mine planning, engineering, mineral processing, resource and reserve estimation, feasibility studies, due diligence, mentoring, management and research.This experience has enabled her to develop an in-depth understanding of the requirement for an integrated approach from discovery to mine closure. Research areas of interest include digital applications, novel approaches to mineral processing and process control, insitu mining and re-processing of mined wastes.Professor Clark has previously held a number of significant industry roles:• President of The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM)• Deputy Chair of the Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC)• Member of Queensland Exploration Council• Appointed as Queensland Resource Industry Ambassador• Professorial Head of Geometallurgy Research at UQ JKMRC in 2012.• Awarded the AusIMM Beryl Jacka Award in recognition of extraordinary and sustained service to the AusIMM “Working with the world-class team of research professionals at the University of Queensland's Sustainable Minerals Institute brings together expertise, technology and innovation enabling productivity improvements that incorporate the significant issues of mine closure from the outset of mining development proposals.”
