Email Design & Marketing
I connect organizations and marketers with K12 educators through my network of online K12 educator communities. My years of experience launching and growing the SchoolSpring community give me a unique advantage to help execute successful campaigns.I've worked with media agencies and institutions directly to optimize, execute and analyze email campaigns for institutions including Northeastern University, Lesley University, Bay Path University, Johnson & Wales University, Champlain College, Merrimack College, George Washington University, Concordia University and Drexel University, among others.
Product Manager, Schoolspring.Com
After the acquisition of SchoolSpring by Netchemia I focused on the role of Product Manager for the SchoolSpring job board. This allowed me to focus on user success, split testing, feature development and growth strategies.► Built split testing functionality that allowed us to explore and celebrate the impact of every new feature.► Built out our ATS integrations as a marketing tool that allowed us to sell to school districts that used competing applicant tracking systems.
Co-Founder, Technical & Product Lead
In May 2000 I was introduced to former educators who had a simple idea: Sell online job postings to schools and buy one large ad in the local newspaper listing all the jobs with a link back to the site. Schools loved the idea. The newspaper did not. With our initial plan not looking so good, we set out to turn the site into a national K12 job board and applicant tracking system. In my product role I had many opportunities to use product features as marketing tools. I’m a passionate believer in these stealth marketing tactics.► First among competitors to provide online self-service interview scheduling. One of the biggest time savers for our users.► Introduced job aggregation in 2003 to address our chicken and egg problem. We needed jobs to attract job seekers and job seekers to attract paid postings so we back-filled our job search with jobs from external job boards.► Developed automated academic transcript importing from universities. This allowed us to store transcripts in text format instead of images, making it so much easier for applicants and hiring managers.► SchoolSpring Plus+ allowed job seekers to package and deliver their application packet to any employer, whether they used our site or not. This effectively made our job seekers brand ambassadors, spreading the word about SchoolSpring to many more employers.► Partner job boards – I designed our platform in a way that allowed us to easily skin it for states or associations to have their own branded job boards and expand our marketing reach.SchoolSpring was acquired by Netchemia, and now owned by PowerSchool.
Co-Founder & President
Launched during college as RebatePlace.com - a site for consumers to find manufacturer mail-in rebates and compare prices on the thousands of electronics products that carried rebates at that time.Eventually grew into a niche product promotion content provider to online retailers, comparison shopping sites and other online shopping destinations. Top clients included Dell, PC Connection, Yahoo, CNET/CBS Interactive, Colamco and OfficeDepot, among many others.
Information Management Leadership Program
► Responsible for database design and UI/UX design of the first web-based e-commerce project for the company.► First full-time assignment was as a project leader tasked with building the first web-based public-facing company job board. I managed the daily work of two software development contractors. I completed the database and UI/UX design and successfully delivered the company's first "Careers" portal.► Decided to leave because I felt it was "now or never" to head out on my own and start a company.
