About Clark Easter

Growing food requires what is increasingly scarce - large amounts of water. Our startup is focused on opening up the vast national reserves of brackish groundwater that are today unusable for farming. We are doing this by bringing to market a toolbox of disruptive new technologies from around the world that can, for the first time, remove salts from impaired water sources at price points that make sense for permanent crops, berries, and other higher values crops. ZERO Brine and Renewably Powered. We think we can add 2.5 MAF of new supply from existing brackish groundwater supplies in California alone over the coming decade. In my thirties, I was a cofounder and VP of a project developer for waste-to-energy projects. Our clients were small to midsize cities with garbage disposal problems. We represented a disruptive Swedish technology capable of cleanly making energy from trash. We put together about $200 million of projects before we were bought out. For the last 25 years, I have mainly been a software entrepreneur - founding several companies in the online data, health, and educational areas. I have demonstrated in each of these multiple business sectors a natural ability to clearly identify and articulate needed emerging business process unique to that sector, and then to successfully mirror it in resultant software designs. Have worked with projects that use geospatial software in innovative ways, including real time sensor integration. Specialties: Identifying core needed business process and technology solutionsTransforming needed technology processes into state of the art software design or commercial productsRapidly building early stage companies

We are a project developer and systems integrator focused on bringing disruptive new technologies to market for desalinating brackish groundwater - at the price and scale needed by agriculture. California is our initial target market, with initial plant sizes ranging from 150 to 8,000 acre-feet per year. We are willing to either build and sell turnkey plants to our clients, or we can own and operate them for a per acre-foot water treatment fee. As the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act legislation starts to restrict groundwater overpumping over the next few years, California will need over 2.5 Million Acre Feet of new water sources, and we are well positioned to meet that need price points that agriculture can afford.

Director, Co-Founder, Lead Investor

Trifecta Global Infrastructure Solutions, Ltd.

Trifecta Global Infrastructure Solutions Ltd., an Irish company with offices in New Zealand and the U.S., used RIA tools to develop a browser based, geospatial process engine specifically designed to model and optimize the workflows for the management of public infrastructure, including road, water, and property assets. Trifecta’s process engine was specifically designed from the ground up to be truly geospatial, and uniquely included time as a fully integrated fourth dimension. Trifecta’s platform offered infrastructure managers advanced project management and budget tracking capabilities, and it gave engineers the vital visual context they need for projects by seamlessly integrating in the most advanced georeferenced imagery – LIDAR, oblique aerial photography, and high resolution, 360 degree “DriveView”. Trifecta also developed an environmental platform into which networked environmental sensors of any kind could be associated with any x, y, z coordinate. With this platform, all sorts of real world concerns could be monitored in real time: from landfill leakage, bridge failure, road surface freezing, public water contamination, vapor intrusion from leaking fuel tanks, over pumping of aquifers, to violations of air or water permits. Even complex groundwater and air plume contamination could be modeled in real time with this environmental platform, using the same geostatistical interpolation methodologies the EPA uses. Historical sensor data was stored and could be visually “played back”, establishing a much broader foundation for evidence based outcomes work for the whole environmental discipline. All of this rich functionality was accessible via a web browser under a Software as a Service model.Trifecta's IP was acquired by other companies in 2013, and Trifecta liquidated in 2014.

Ceo, Founder

I was asked by a Federal Judge in 1996 to help analyze why Baltimore City Public Schools could not produce the reports that were required by a Federal Consent Decree they were in concerning the district's failure to deliver Special Education Services to students as required by Federal and State law. Out of that work we developed very innovative software to automate both the time lines and the embedded legal requirements in the paperwork that special educators around the country were struggling with. I received two patents for my innovative software solutions for solving several of the business process challenges peculiar to Special Education. That company began as 4GL School Solutions, and ultimately was renamed SpectrumK12. I was the founder and CEO, raised $18 million in two VC rounds, and took the company from startup to over $50 million in valuation by the time I stepped down as CEO in 2005. I remained on the Board until 2006.In 2003, I was recognized for my accomplishments as the Founder and CEO of this company by being named a finalist from the state of Maryland for the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” award. I also won a National Technology in Education Award from Microsoft in 2000 for 4GL's accomplishments in the field of education.

Angel, Software Developer

Starting in 2001, after leading several private development efforts in the disease management field, I financially backed, assembled the team, and led the initial development effort, for the software that became the main database used by a leading diabetes management company, XLHealth Corporation. This software tracked across time the clinical stratification and the preventative interventions that were being done with diabetic patients, and the health impact and the health care savings of those interventions. XLHealth was selected by CMS several years later for an ongoing national disease management demonstration project involving tens of thousands of diabetic and congestive heart failure patients. The software the team I put in place developed has become the foundation of their ongoing ability to scale. XLHealth went on to deliver almost $2 billion of medical services yearly, and became the second largest provider of chronic condition special needs plans within the Medicare Advantage industry. It was bought out by UnitedHealthcare in 2011
