Former Radio Personality for 101.9 Kiss FMFor the past 5 years, I have been working at as an on-air radio personality. During this time, I hosted and co-hosted 2 radio shows, involving a great deal of strong communication with my co-host and callers of the shows. Going out in the community to interact with listeners during live broadcasts and events was the second most important task. To most peoples surprise, radio is not just talking on a mic and entertaining an audience. It also included me maintaining the stations social media accounts (Instagram and Facebook were the strong platforms of the audience in our area) and the website. For the station, this required me to keep the website up-to-date with my own written articles of local, national and entertainment news, as well as original posts such as album reviews, movie reviews and blog posts of different topics of discussion. During this time, I also picked up graphic designing skills to create posts on the social media platforms. Other post included interactive videos with listeners, celebrity interviews conducted at the station, videos from live broadcasts and more. When I started maintaining the platforms for the station, there was significant increase in followers and website traffic.Working closely with the sales department was also a priority, being able to come up with ways to incorporate their clients products or services on-air during our shows for sponsorships, contests or giveaways. I would create a promotional calendar every for the month, a schedule to follow for what would be promoted, used as content or used as prizes in contest giveaways. I do believe that the skills I obtained in radio, are able to smoothly transfer over into a marketing job. I see these as skill that can be built upon and any skills I do not already have, I am more than willing to learn to better any company that is willing to have me. I am eager to learn and sharpen my skills in this field.
