Together we provide support to the Facilities Management & Capital Programs Division by providing the strategic planning of capital projects of all sizes and complexities, as well manage all legislative compliance with respect to facilities. My responsibilities include the oversight of front-end planning, development of project plans (including budget, scope, schedule), risk assessments, feasibility studies, due diligence studies, identification and engagement of project stakeholders (internal and external to the City of Hamilton), contract negotiations, and the procurement of professional services (Architects and Engineers) and General Contractors. I also manage the response to all compliance related issues including TSSA, MOECC, MOL, WHMIS, MNR, City By-Laws, and AODA as well as overseeing the remediation of designated substances and mould, and environmental site assessments (ESA). We also coordinate training of the team on issues related to legislative compliance with respect to the facilities portfolio. Another responsibility of my team is the completion of building condition assessments for the entire facility portfolio (500+ buildings) in order to ensure current asset management methodologies into the long term capital planning and the life-cycle renewal of our buildings.
