About Clarke Watson
Clarke Watson is a Digital Design Engineer at Reality Labs at Meta. They possess expertise in semiconductors, hardware, architecture, fpga, embedded systems and 43 more skills. Colleagues describe them as "Clarke is one the best engineers I ever worked with. He is exceptionally brilliant, multi-talented, and detail-oriented. He was instrumental in several aspects of the design of a low power wireless IC, from RTL design, FPGA prototyping, board design, to system bring-up. The unique combination of his skill set and experience makes him one of few people who can provide insight into problems that require comprehensive knowledge of the system at different levels. He is also very innovative, always seeks ways to improve design and/or flow, doing things ever more efficiently. He is very positive, energetic, and has great personality. It is truly a pleasure to work with him. I highly recommend Clarke.", "Clarke is an exceptionally brilliant multi-talented engineer. Although typically Clarke mostly works on hardware (Boards, FPGA and digital IC design) design, his knowledge of the systems, systems level issues (buses, synchronization, interfaces, IOs . . . . ) clearly makes a vast difference to any group he works with. Also his command of DSP, micro-controllers, microprocessors (including firmware development, debug and test) knowledge is perhaps superior to most engineers specializing in those. Clarke came to work for me at Excess Bandwidth as our eighth member of the start-up, which was developing a DSL modem chip set. He came in as a hardware board designer, but quickly took over FPGA tasks, picked up on chip design, verification, and validation including systems level validation and finally performed the duties of a hardware/chip architect as he is one of those handful guys who can travel across the boundaries of RTL and systems/DSP/MATLAB. So he talked to systems guys and translated that for the RTL guys so that the RTL guys could go get their design done and vice versa ! Clarke is versatile and has proved that by doing FPGA validation of the whole chip RTL on the modem prototype that has used FPGA boards, designed by Clarke. In fact Clarke can even take over the task of applications engineering and customer interface when and if required! It is not enough to say that Clarke had been a top technical contributor on the team from the beginning, but he also assumed management responsibilities during the Virata days (after Excess Bandwidth was acquired by Virata in 2000), and managed a small group of hardware engineers and DSP/Comm architects. I have known Clarke for over 10 years now. He is truly a joy to work with - very positive, very energetic, and always seeking to stay current! Clarke Watson would be an asset to any organization and I highly recommend him.", and "Clarke is tremendous engineering talent. He combines outstanding FPGA development skills with signal processing knowledge. His attention to detail resulted in robust solutions which minimized integration periods greatly. He left a mark on General Dynamics in terms of how to approach FPGA development. Edward Carroll Lead Systems Engineer"
