I represent clients in the oil and gas industry and serve as a technology expert in patent and other litigation. My practice involves the prosecution of patents through the United States Patent and Trademark Office, negotiation and preparation of licensing agreements, and preparation of patent opinions.From 1954 to1986, I worked as a scientist for Exxon Production Research. At Exxon, I performed and directed research in a broad range of technologies related to drilling and production, including oil recovery processes, natural gas processing, production logging, cementing and hydraulic fracturing. I hold patents on 30 inventions and was named a Legend of Hydraulic Fracturing by the Society of Petroleum Engineers.After earning my law degree, I concentrated on technical aspects of litigation. I served as a consultant for Arthur D. Little in oil industry technology planning and as a litigation expert. In 1989, I began to practice intellectual property law. From 1997 to 2004 I practiced patent law at Baker Botts LLP and from 2004 to April 2011, I was a partner of Burleson Cooke LLP. Currently, I am the owner of Cooke Law Firm, an intellectual property law firm in Conroe, Texas.
