Hurst Chemical distributes polyester printing plates as part of a Direct-to-Plate solution for small print shops – along with additional proprietary pressroom chemistries. My responsibility was to increase market penetration and revenues throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America. Building a team of technical representatives – and working through regional paper dealers – we were able to deliver a low-cost, automated system to small printers to help them significantly increase their revenues. Increasing small printers profit ratios enabled us to expand penetration throughout the Southeastern United States and Mexico; and grow revenues by more than 40% over a two year period.

The opportunity to manage sales and direct production was exhilarating. The sales force was grown, retrained and delivered significantly greater sales revenues. Streamlining production, however, proved much more of a challenge – being tasked with introducing and managing change. Established practices were replaced with more efficient processes and analog procedures were discarded for automated proficiencies. The revitalization of this organization resulted in revenue growth of more than 22% annually.

Crestec USA delivered print, fulfillment and distribution services to international organizations on a local and regional basis through its offices in Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Challenging our sales teams to reach globally secured projects to be produced in Mexico, Belgium and Japan, where I was responsible for establishing manufacturing partnerships that would adhere to ISO 9000 standards. We originated these projects as contractual agreements which Crestec USA continues to enjoy today.
