I have the pleasure of formally introducing students to their social world through Introduction to Sociology.

As the Associate Director, Student Engagement and Compliance Education, I provided ongoing educational opportunities on a variety of compliance and awareness topics. I researched and reviewed federal and state mandates such at Title IX, Clery Act and the Drug and Alcohol Prevention program to ensure the college was maintaining compliance related to the student body.

As Coordinator, Student Activities, I provided direction for, planned, and supervised student programming. I promoted leadership development and growth through involvement in student organizations as well as encouraged cultural & intellectual awareness through various campus events. In addition to serving as an advisor to Phi Theta Kappa and providing direction for our thirty plus organizations, I served on various institutional committees and work groups as an advocate for student issues.

I managed a team of four Success Coaches whose mission was to increase retention through academic planning and strategies for success. I coordinated their student case load and triaged student nominations for assistance. I maintained referral benchmark data and worked closely with the Early Alert team to foster our goal of student success.

I have had the opportunity to teach a variety of upper level sociology courses to include: Deviant Behavior, Race and Ethnicity, Sociology of Religion, Social Stratification, and Gender Studies.

For eight years I taught College Life and Human Development to a cohort of Honors College freshman students in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core. The course focused on the dimensions of wellness (intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social.) While I taught all components, my primary focus was the social dimension.

As Assistant Director of the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC), I addressed daily operations by providing assistance to the Director of the BIC. I co-developed an administration plan for the program, was responsible for the development of a recruitment and retention model, and for the academic advisement of nearly 150 freshman and sophomore students. Additional responsibilities included mentoring BIC students, coordinating the program with other programs in the Honors College, and serving as Course Coordinator for College Life and Human Development for one year to nine faculty and 200 students.While in this position, I had the opportunity to develop and coordinate open house events for prospective BIC students. I also prepared and designed recruitment materials, program information and applications for prospective students and planned the Senior Recognition Banquet honoring graduating seniors in the program.
