I have 15 years experience as superintendent of schools in Oregon and Massachusetts. Recently, I served as Interim Superintendent for Andover Public Schools. Before that, as Director of Educator Policy, Planning and Leadership at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). While with DESE I led in the development of a new educator evaluation system, working with more than 40 stakeholders, including unions, K-12 teachers and administrators, parents, students, and higher education researchers. Currently, I am a consultant with Executive Service Corps, Boston. I also am on the Pike School Board of Trustees. I have a doctoral degree from Harvard’s Urban Superintendents Program, with special interest in strategic planning, governance, and financial planning. I have been a negotiator in interest based contract negotiations and was trained and served as a mediator for the courts in family disputes. In addition to more than 25 years teaching in K-12 schools, I have taught graduate courses in Ethics at Lewis & Clark College and in Negotiations at Harvard University. I lead workshops in the Case Consult Model.
