I have a near-native level of Danish and love to work with words. My translation experience includes all the Scandinavian languages; I have also studied the linguistic history of the interaction between Norse and Old English.I was recently given the opportunity to work on a Swedish novel and have really enjoyed fine-tuning my approach. In my university classes, I excelled at the translation components: I graduated with the class medal in translation, which was one of the highest marks the department has ever seen, as well as the class medal in my language paper. I was awarded a scholarship to attend the 2021 BCLT language summer school, where we got the chance to work directly with a Danish author: it was a humbling experience to be involved this intimately in the creative process. I have discovered a flair for working with creative texts since beginning my work with the Nordic word: guided by Richard’s expertise I have been able to find increasingly elegant solutions to the problems presented. I enjoy reading in the Nordic languages: I particularly like the works of Tove Ditlevsen, Tove Jansson and Henrik Ibsen.I am organised and can work swiftly to tight deadlines. In my time at Nielsen, I rose to various challenges in cataloguing and organisation of data; I developed excellent communication and time management, working in small teams towards completion of daily SLA targets, and adapted to new training and changing branding guidelines. I became far more confident with complex branding processes and various IT skills.
