My responsibilities within this role include: management of multiple websites, including the creation and publishing of new webpages; email communications for marketing, as well as client notifications and reminders; social media management; conference and sponsorship coordination; webinar creation and management; brand management; coordination and management of printed materials; advertising coordination and management; and anything else I am asked to take on. :)

As a freelance writer, I take on a wide range of projects for clients. My experience includes magazine articles, biographies, fictional short stories, web pages, blogs, articles and journalism pieces.

As a part-time investigative journalist, I covered legal and business topics for the state of Utah. I authored more than 200 articles, including business profiles; interviews with judges; and subjects concerning crime, adoption, hospital-acquired infections, mechanic’s liens, water law and proposed legislation.

I started with this company as a contract writer, composing SEO articles, web pages, blogs and press releases. A large legal client approached the company and I was asked to write some samples, due to my legal and business background. We landed the client and then, as volume increased, I was recruited to train writers in other states, without any legal or journalistic knowledge, on how to write for attorneys’ websites throughout the country. About a year later, I was hired as account manager. In that role, I developed the account into the company’s 2nd biggest client. I recruited writers for the teams, put together training material and programs, oversaw multiple projects, managed quality, compiled monthly invoices and sought out new projects from them. I also acted as legal editor and and account manager for a couple of other legal clients.

Originally, I worked part-time as an office clerk and was then hired as a coordinator secretary. In this position, I assisted in the running of adult education campuses, handling all bookkeeping, payroll, record keeping, ordering of supplies and helping students register for classes. I also helped the coordinator verify that adult high school students had met their graduation requirements and entered all student data into the state’s Utopia system. In addition to my normal duties, I was asked to train new secretaries due to my patience and knowledge, manage campuses without a secretary or coordinator, write and edit class descriptions for our quarterly communication education catalog and act as secretary for the district’s GED program at the county jail. I also taught children’s classes on occasion and some adult writing classes.

I worked for this employer part-time as a receptionist and was then offered the job of registrar. With the help of the company's technical support, I learned the entire DOS-based program the school used and I knew it so well that teachers often sought help from me when trying to enter information on their end. When I took the job, files were piled high on cabinets and the area was basically a mess. I reorganized the filing system; ensured that Sarbanes Oxley guidelines were followed in terms of maintaining documentation; entered all student information, including schedules, attendance, grades and any changes; evaluated graduation requirements before approving students for graduation; and performed any other jobs I was asked to do. I was also VA certified and provided counseling to students who were under the GI bill.

When I came to work for Wood Crapo, the filing system was disorganized. The law firm had several boxes of files in a basement area and other file boxes with a storage company. No existing inventory or record existed. One of the first things I did was put together an entire inventory of all the files for the firm, going to the off-site storage center as well as spending several hours in the basement. Once I had a full list, I put together a spreadsheet that recorded where every file case was located and set up a system where attorneys had to check out the file and return it to me. This enabled me to know at any time where every single file was at. In addition to managing the filing system, I filled in for the receptionist during breaks or if she was gone for the day. I was also asked to assist with preparing packets, sending out mail and other tasks.
