I have over 35 years experience working with computers, databases and metadata writing. While working at Cable News Network in the News Video Archive, I worked extensively with the library database, from creating original records, to training staff members and end users to use the database, to editing and reviewing metadata records for historical archival and retrieval purposes. I also wrote training documents and edited the database’s thesaurus. I also worked as a freelance script reader for TBS/TNT for a year.As senior librarian, I worked closely with library managers and the vice president of our department in reviewing staff members and in problem solving situations. I worked on a team with programmers to design database software for the library and for the newsroom systems. I also worked with reporters and bureaus from around the globe looking for video or information for their news needs. For eight years I telecommuted from my home office here in Alabama for the main library in Atlanta. I am a self-starter and have always been regarded as a team builder and motivator by co-workers, even from my remote office.I am currently working for the Sherman Grinberg Film Library auditing cataloging records created for their historical news footage which will be offered for sale through Getty Images. The footage is from Pathe newsreels dating 1900 to 1959, covering World War 1 through the Cold War.
