A highly experienced arts PR, specialising in strategic communications for performing arts clients, and crisis management.In my role as Head of Communications & PR at the iconic cultural charity Shakespeare's Globe, I hold responsibility for external communications strategy and reputation management. I manage a busy (and talented!) PR and Social Media team, balancing the social impact aims, brand-awareness, and commercial needs of this beloved organisation. I love working closely with our talented Directorate and Board, and the many freelancers actors, directors, comedians, and musicians who bring the work to life. I ensure that beyond wider communications aims, we are always focussed on care for the organisation and creatives amongst a tricky 'culture wars' environment. ​I have worked across the tenures of three different Artistic Directors at the Globe (starting in 2014), and coordinated publicity around several major news events, including the international celebrations for the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death and President Obama’s visit to the Globe. With my company Claudia Conway PR, I provide consultancy and personal publicity for organisations, actors and comedians. I also have extensive experience and training in crisis communication. I have worked with a wonderful variety of clients, most recently working as Liz Kingsman's personal PR for her international smash-hit 'One Woman Show' (Soho Theatre, London West End, Sydney Opera House, Off-Broadway New York). I assist writer, director and actor Charlie Josephine with personal publicity and strategy for their productions, proudly ensuring that Queer creatives and audiences for these ground-breaking and fantastic productions (I, Joan, Cowbois) are both protected and celebrated. As the Globe is so regularly involved in 'culture war' conversations, I now regularly advise others in the industry on how to handle situations as they evolve. I enjoy working closely with clients, ensuring my understanding of them and their work and presentation is authentic and honest. I particularly enjoy working to define and shape strong and clear narratives which go beyond an individual show or project. I believe an organisation and an individual is safer, more secure, and happy if they can align their communications honestly and with integrity. I hope that people I work with end up feeling confident and assured.I studied Politics at Durham University, hold a Diploma in Public Relations and in Crisis Communications, and am a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
