English / Humanities TeacherYew Wah International Educational School Aug 2016 - Jul 2019Guangzhou, ChinaI am working in the secondary school and am teaching English and Social Studies English (International Understanding). I have worked with Western teachers from the UK, USA, New Zealand and Australia, and I have worked alongside Chinese teachers. Together we plan lessons, have regular departmental meetings and assess work. It is our duty to immerse students in the English language as much as possible. By Year 8, students take part in the Cambridge Checkpoint Examinations. I have taken part in Extra Curricular Activites (ECAs) such as Destination Imagination (DI), Botanical Drawing and Comic Drawing. The DI team made it to the top 5 highest scoring schools in their age group in Beijing and so were invited to Tennessee, USA, to take part in the Global Finals. They came 21st out of 53 schools in their division. I also helped to co-lead a trip to Australia which included visiting Melbourne and Uluru. I took part in Yew Wah Explores Day βSolving the Water Crisis.β In my lesson students were challenged to think about resolving this problem through a piece of Street Art which had to be completed within two hours. I take part in the dorm reading program for five weeks of the year. -
