Synthesized and characterized polycaprolactone electrospun fibers as scaffolds for tendon regeneration. I designed 3D printed removeable fiber holders for culture with human tendon-derived cells. Also, I designed and manufactured a PDMS microfluidic chip for the study of tendon physiopathology.

Synthesized and characterized hydrogels as a biohybrid scaffold material for tissue engineering. Additionally, I performed collagen coatings and subsequent seeding of NIH3T3 cells on hydrogel samples. Lastly, I decellularized the naturally deposed extracellular-matrix for further use with HUVEC cells.

Paris Area, France

Characterized fluorescent nanoparticles (FNPs) and performed functionalization of surfaces intended for the detection of bacteria in a microfluidic device. Also, I studied the interaction between these FNPs and Streptococcus aureus bacteria.

Dayton, Ohio Area

Designed a refrigerating system that operates without electricity by using an adsorptive working pair of ethanol and activated carbon. I collaborated with the team to optimize the system by evaluating mass ratios and performing life cycle analysis. Moreover, I joined the business team to develop a business model for a market-ready solar refrigerator based on this technology.As a team, we were rewarded the National Awards at the USA Science and Engineering Festival in Washington, D.C. (2016):- Sustainable Development Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers - Sustainable Energy Award by the Mid-Atlantic Solar Energy Society - Vitruvius Award by OrganicARCHITECT
