My name is Claudia Low and I am currently taking my diploma- Early Childhood Developmental and Education in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I have worked as an assistant teacher at Mosaic Preschool. I am graduating with a Diploma in Early Childhood Development and Education, and a Minor in Applied Psychology, from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, in 2025.I personally believe that children learn best through play. Hence, I have incorporated various materials to engage the children during my lessons. Through modules such as Early Numeracy and Child Development 1 and 2, I learnt how to create suitable lesson plans for children by understanding the different stages of their development. Moreover, I have had the opportunity to apply these skills during my Practicums. From Year 1 until now, I have implemented 3 lesson plans, created 7 learning resources and 4 observations on children’s development. In 2022 and 2023, I embarked on 2 practicums. In the first practicum in 2022, I mainly did observations and aided my host teacher with daily routines. I was attached to a Playgroup (PG) class for 2 weeks. This allowed me to experience daily routines such as lunchtime and outdoor walks. It was truly an inspiring experience that further encouraged me to be an educator.For my second practicum in 2023, I was attached to a Nursery 2 (N2) class for 5 weeks. I created and implemented 3 lesson plans with the children. I was exposed to the different types of classroom management methods as I got closer to the teachers at the centre. Moreover, I helped to set up a dramatic corner and decorations for the different holidays that were celebrated during my time there. For example: the Deepavali Celebration and the end-of-year Graduation Concert. Through these experiences, I have grown to become an understanding and open-minded individual. I am always ready to take on new experiences and learn from them.
