“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, dream, discover.” – Mark TwainI have had the distinction of having several interesting and challenging careers, and am fortunate to have taken the opportunity to heed Mark Twain's advice and step away from traditional employment to spend 8 months traveling throughout the United States. My travel explorations have required me to be organized (everything I need for 4 seasons of weather, events and sports is with me and easily findable in my car), flexible, patient and a master scheduler and problem-solver. I’ve enjoyed discovering new places, cultures, people and cuisines; seeing family and friends; sharing my journey with visitors, and getting creative with how to do it all within budget. And I post it all on a blog in a timely manner so people can follow along with me virtually.I attribute my organization and problem-solving abilities to my engineering background. It taught me to be detailed, thorough, analytical and curious. My project management skills come from years of owning and running my own businesses. I had to figure out staffing, timing, budget and execution of many different events, making sure customers were pleased with results along the way. I’ve kept up to date with technology through my most recent post as Operations Specialist at a fintech company and with my 3D virtual tour business. And I’ve always been a good communicator – whether verbal or written, its important for me to always listen, understand and get my point across.
