As an adminstrator focused on discipline, student support, and curriculum development, my goal is to create a challenging and competitive college preparatory curriculum within a safe academic environment. My objective is to prepare students to find success in our ever-changing world. As educators we have the challenge of determining how to prepare students for job fields that have not even been created yet. Discipline is based on restorative justice that empowers students and enables the student to learn from mistakes through developing coping and communication skills. As an innovative learning specialist my objective is to help students have a positive and rewarding academic experience. When students have been in the special education system for a long time they tend to view school as a painful experience, and they start viewing themselves in a negative way. By teaching techniques based on the individual learning style of each student, school becomes a more positive and successful experience. Collaboration with the general education teachers helps the student transfer the learning techniques they learn and makes them applicable in all of their classes. When "F"s start turning into "C"s and then "A"s, one's overall perception of themselves changes. Future goals and dreams that were not even a possibility to the student are now within reach.
