I am a versatile reporter covering politics, sports, courts and entertainment, with a focus on Latino issues and I also translate stories from one language to the other. I started at the AP as a translator and then became the New York Correspondent for the Latin American Desk, writing stories that can include a feature on poor immigrant families opting out of food stamps because of fear of deportation or an interview with the President of Colombia. In my nearly 15 years at the AP I have become the recipient of several awards, like the Front Page Award for Wires-In-Depth Reporting by The Newswomen’s Club of New York. I also have been a grantee of The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting for a feature on vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
